At Compass Family Services, we’re passionate about helping San Francisco families succeed. Compass was founded in 1914 to support travelers coming to the World's Fair, and in the 100+ years since we have helped many thousands of vulnerable San Franciscans to thrive. Today, our programs provide a broad range of support to families in need, including housing, childcare, mental health services, job search support, and much more.

Our core competencies embody the organizational culture of Compass. These are the knowledge, skills, and behaviors that all Compass employees are responsible for developing and applying to the work we do in support of our mission, values, and goals. Compass employees are: Accountable, Adaptable, Client-centered, Collaborative, Resourceful, and Committed to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging.

Compass’ staff embody the diversity of the Bay Area. We especially encourage applicants whose life experiences help them relate to the challenges that Compass families face. Compass employees share a deep commitment to serving San Francisco's most vulnerable population. We care about each other, our clients, and making our communities better, and it shows. More than 95% of families who complete our housing programs achieve lasting success and exit homelessness for good. We all believe in the power to make San Francisco better, for everyone.
