Organization: Compass Family Services is a 100+ year old nonprofit working on the front lines of San Francisco’s homeless crisis. We provide families experiencing or at risk of homelessness with comprehensive support to address immediate needs and ensure long-term success.

Salary range: $65,000 - $72,000 annually

Schedule: Full time, Monday - Friday, primarily during standard business hours

Location: 37 Grove Street, San Francisco. Fully in-person at first, then possibility of working remotely 1-2 days per week.

Position Description:
The Government Grants Associate plays a crucial role in supporting the department with accurate and timely government grants billing and administration under the direction of the Government Grants Manager. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Enter billing data into various government platforms.
  • Compile and organize supportive backup for monthly government grant billing.
  • Run, download, and save monthly GL detail reports by source and subprogram.
  • Prepare excel worksheet with GL details required for main funder.
  • Maintain government grant filing system.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly summary reports of contract spending for program leadership.
  • Review monthly status of government grant billing in the various platforms.
  • Support with any agency-wide audit government grant requests.
  • Assist with agency grant administration duties and other duties as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Two years general accounting education or equivalent experience
  • Firm grasp of accounting principles
  • Thorough understanding of Microsoft suite (Excel, Word, PP)
  • Extremely organized, detail-oriented, and thorough
  • Ability to problem solve, work independently with minimal supervision and as a team member.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact with employees and vendors in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging work

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary: $33 - $37 per hour / $65K- $72K annually
  • Paid time off: 4 weeks of vacation your first year, increasing to 5 in your second. Also paid holidays, sick time, family leave.
  • Insurance: health, dental and vision insurance are fully covered by Compass for employees and dependent children. We also provide long term disability and life insurance.
  • Retirement: after one year of work, Compass contributes an amount equal to 5% of your salary into a retirement account; this vests during years 2-5.
  • Membership in OPEIU/Local 29 union.

Location and Covid safety:

  • Office location: 37 Grove St., less than a block from Civic Center BART/MUNI station
  • This is primarily an on-site role, with the option to work remotely 1-2 days per week after the first three months
  • Covid vaccination required for all staff
